Summertime Finds

How are y’all enjoying your summer (those of you in my part of the world, that is)?  We’re having a good one, though it’s going by quickly.  Soon school will be back in session, so at the time this is being published, I’m actually away from the blog world and taking some time with my family.  WordPress allows you to write and schedule ahead of time, so I’m still here, even though I’m not really here!

I have managed some junkin this summer, some thrift store visits, antique shops, and an estate sale (where I didn’t buy anything).

I was so tickled to find these Pyrex canisters at a thrift store!  I’ve been seeing fellow bloggers and Flickr users post their pics of these pretty things over the years, but had never seen any in real life, anywhere at any price.  Maybe they weren’t popular here in South Carolina?  As you can see, one is already in use for tea bags, the other two are awaiting their assignments.

Isn’t that bear and log planter too darling?  Another thrift store find. I’ll have to get one more of those air plants I wrote about recently for him.

Behind it all is the stained glass window I showed off already in late July.  Here’s another look:

Another thrift store trip turned up this wonderful chrome bread box, and one more bowl to match the vintage Pyrex dinnerware I already had.

It just now occurs to me I haven’t shown y’all this Pyrex Friendship dish as an official “find” yet, though I did give a sneak peek last week.  It’s the smaller one inside the larger lasagna pan (in the center).

I think that’s everything.  I’m taking a couple of weeks off from blogging, but I’ve scheduled this and a few other things to post on “auto-pilot”, including the weekly History & Home Link Party on Tuesdays, so you won’t even know I’m offline!  I’m planning to unplug completely, so I won’t be responding to comments right away.  Maybe I’ll find more goodies during my break, or maybe I’ll give myself a junkin’ break, too, who knows?

Y’all be blessed and enjoy what’s left of the summer ~Signature2

Great stuff, Dawn. Enjoy your time off! I love that breadbox – I bought an updated version from Wms Sonoma several years ago and use it daily. Love that center dishware – is that Pyrex restaurant ware?

Wonderful, have a great time with your family. We all need time to just be with our loved ones and restore ourselves.

Enjoy your time off, Dawn! I remember those last few weeks before summer was over and the frenzy of school was starting; now I watch my daughters go through it with the grandchildren! Where has the time gone? Cherish your family time. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch

I had those canisters, got them as a wedding present in the mid 1970’s. I still have one or two, I’ll have to look! Enjoy your summer break.

Those are the handiest containers, I have a few, they’re great for baking items!! I used to see them often, hardly ever now…..
