Glass Play Time and History and Home Link Party 21

Welcome to the 21st week of the History and Home Link Party, the place to share your articles about home decor, home reno, antiques, vintage finds, and history, or just to visit the party-goers and see what they’ve shared.

Do you have something that is like your “toys” to you?  Something you like to play with, rearrange, put out and have a photo shoot?

Sometimes I’m like a little girl playing with her toys, I just love to play with my vintage kitchen glass.  That’s the great thing about holidays and changing seasons…it gives me an excuse to rearrange the dishes!

A shelving unit made of olde wooden crates called to me at an antiques mall about a year ago, and it fits perfectly on top of my antique pie safe.  I imagine this was put together, and it’s interior shelves added, for either an antique booth display, or perhaps a country store.  I change my display on it about monthly, as it’s a great place to show and enjoy my vintage kitchen glass collection.

Here it is for February:

In December and January, it had the winter blues and snowflakes:

You could guess this was the Autumn arrangement:

Yes, it’s fun to play with the vintage dishes.  Soon it will be time to see what I have in green, St. Patrick’s Day is coming!  What do you collect that you like to arrange, rearrange, play with, photograph?

Well, I managed to get in a bit of history and home with this one, and now it’s my fellow-bloggers’ turn to share their history and home-related articles that they’ve been working on.  Party time!

Pssst…in case you missed yesterday’s big news, I’ve become a contributing writer at Parade.com!  After you link up and visit some other folks, maybe you’ll hop over to Parade.com and read my guest article Strike a Better Pose with Your Sweetheart.  Leave a comment there or share it using Parade’s social media buttons at the top – I’d really appreciate it!

  1. Cute displays. I like to change things up as well, but don’t do it as often as I should. I get busy, months pass, and I keep thinking “I should change that”. Thanks for hosting.

  2. Loving those little winter snowflake ones 🙂 When linking up it said I didn’t have a back link to you, but I do? Not sure what is happening there… never mind. Lisa x

  3. It is fun to decorate the seasons on great shelving. I use my kitchen hutch shelves for the seasonal changes (or whenever the whim to change occurs). Thanks for hosting Dawn, love joining in.

  4. I love playing with my dishes too Dawn! In fact, I am in the middle of pulling out pastels for Spring and putting away my Valentine dishes. Thanks for hosting. I love all of your wonderful Pyrex!

  5. Congratulations Dawn!! Bless your little heart girl, you work hard and you deserve the recognition. I love your wooden crate shelves. I would be playing with those too. Lord knows I have an abundance of stuff that needs a place to show of it’s prettiness at. Have a great week.

  6. Your Pyrex is cleverly styled, Dawn. I collect Jadeite, but only when it comes to me well-priced (not the eBay kind!). I love rearranging my antique & vintage beaded & mesh purses best of all, as the collection evolves.
Thanks for hosting yet again. This week I’m sharing the fun I had creating a baby shower food buffet with inspiration from children’s book titles – a hit, and relatively easy to pull off!

  7. I haven’t stopped by in so long because I haven’t been thrifting in forever–I didn’t know you expanded your party! Congrats on the Parade feature! 🙂

  8. Thanks for visiting me at Timeless Treasures and for the nice comment on my store window display board. I just noticed you had my DIY Plate Rack in the Bathroom on your Party Link Features Pinterest Board … Thank you.
