We Call It Olde Link-Up, Week 5

Welcome to another edition of the We Call It Olde Link-Up, the place for writers to share their articles on antiques, vintage collectibles, and history!  And the place for readers to sit back, relax, and enjoy the olde awesomeness.  Furniture, house restoration, milk glass, advertising, rusty metal…we tend to get all that good stuff shared here at We Call It Olde, plus we’re usually surprised with something unusual, too.  I can’t wait to see what y’all have to share this week.

1970s Plastic Popcorn Wall Decor

Since Halloween is upon us, I’m sharing my vintage plastic popcorn wall hanger, Halloween Guy.  Clever name, huh?  If you saw my Junkin Finds: Halloween Edition last Friday, then you already saw him, and maybe that’s cheating a little, but I was just so tickled to find one of these things –finally- that wasn’t faded and $10 that I wanted to show him again.  Who didn’t have these cute things in their classrooms when they were kids?  We always did, so I guess that’s why I like them, they make me feel young again.

Now, it’s your turn to show us your oldies and history!

  1. A few years back, we were at an estate sale that had a ton of those plastic popcorn Halloween decorations. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what they were called, so I was trying to describe them over my phone to my grandmother (who still owned the antique mall and was my source of most vintage/antique info that I hadn’t already found online) I knew that they were old, knew that someone or someplace had had them when I was a kid, but didn’t know what they WERE.

They were asking more than I had in the bottom of my purse that day, so I passed on them. Now I wish I hadn’t.
